What Should Be Recorded After the First Mold Trial?

A useful trial record answers three questions: Which conditions were used, what happened to the sample, and who owns the next action? Material lot, machine, key molding conditions, sample identification, and trial date should be linked to the issue record.

Cosmetic issues should be photographed, located, and described with consistent terms. Dimensional issues should identify the drawing revision, datum, method, and result. Assembly issues need the mating-part revision and observed behavior so that tool, product-design, and assembly-condition problems are not mixed together.

Keep the before-and-after revision and closure status after corrections. The final approved sample should be clearly identified and linked to production inspection criteria. If production conditions change later, those records make root-cause review much faster.
